Break-Fast Jam is a Ugandan hiphop archetype whose overall imperative is giving a different dimension to the breaking culture in Africa. Break-Fast Jam sprang up in 2011 to enrich hip-hop practitioners with an abundance of skills, knowledge, inspirations and experiences on a non partisan platform through competitions, workshops, performances and exhibitions.

For four years it has been East Africa’s most outstanding breaking event featuring top breakers from across the region. Currently, with all the rapid increase in acclaim, one of the prospects of the event is transforming into a complete global gathering, housing breakers from all corners of the world.

Although it focuses on breaking it concurrently brings together all elements of the hip-hop culture by providing a platform to practitioners from other aspects of the culture as well.

Since its initiation, Break-Fast Jam has been holding battles in categories such as; – SEVEN TO SMOKE (Main category) were all winners from the preliminary events held in various places prior to the finals go head to head for the top position at the grand finale – SOLO KIDS (Breaking Battle) – POPPING (SOLO) – SOLO B-GIRLS (Breaking Battle) – CREWS (Breaking battle) – SOLO Breaking battle. Throughout the past editions, Break-Fast Jam has held events in Uganda, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo; impacting amateur & professional artists. Hosted influential individuals and organizations worldwide such as: Ryo Anijha (Japan), Jonathan ‘Super Enlight’ St Clair(USA), Abraham’Abramz’ Tekya(Uganda), Caroline’Lady C’Frase (Canada), Young Cobra (U.A.E), Break Point/Floor wars (Denmark), Breakdance Project Uganda, Sylvester Kabombo (Uganda), Sound Paint(Uganda), Break Session Kenya, Street Dance Kenya, Break through festival(Switzerland), and Soul Events Africa(Uganda).
